Read on for a step by step look at the raised garden bed install process, and the outstanding final results!
1. Pre-installation
To save time on the day, Graeme the builder carried out some pre-installation assembly work, pre-cutting and fixing some of the Trustwood Sleeper frames together.
2. Base Course
After adding a layer of GAP 20 as a base course, the partially pre-assembled frames are laid into place on a nice, flat, even surface.
3. Construction
Graeme the builder then gets to work with some help from Jarrod from Central Landscape Supplies Avondale to complete the assembly of this beautiful Trustwood Sleepers raised garden bed frame.
4. Pre-drilling
Always pre-drill to ensure there is no cracking in the timber sleepers!
5. Fixings
Galvanised steel corner brackets are screwed internally into the frames which are then fixed externally with 200mm m12 stainless steel bolts.
6. Adding a drainage layer
To ensure efficient drainage, a layer of Scoria is added and spread evenly throughout the floor of the raised garden bed by the expert hand of Dan Rissetto from Central Landscape Supplies Swanson.
7. Top with Premium Garden Mix
Finally, after filling the remainder of the raised garden bed with Premium Garden Mix its time for our Marketing Manager Heather to get her hands dirty with some planting.
8. Plant with herbs and vegetables
A symbiotic mix of vegetables, herbs and flowers were selected to fill the raised garden bed including tomatoes, capsicum, zucchini, beetroot, lettuces, aubergines, and spring onions. Herbs including coriander, basil, rosemary, parsley, sage, thyme, and oregano. Marigolds have also been included as pest deterrent and alyssum to attract bees.
9. A job well done
Now time to take a step back and admire this raised garden bed in all its glory!
